The Benefit Of The Awesome

Doubt is the semblance of emotional intelligence in full bloom. We issue it, verbally or non-verbally without much consideration, as it is subconsciously deployed when the world runs in opposition to our aptness grater. However, in the centuries since its first utterance, the phrase has lost muster, meaning, and memory. We cease to employ it properly or appropriately, if at all, often grabbing our nearest communication device to wand away our disbelief and/or dissatisfaction. Leaving the ambered notion of discontent to be picked, piqued, and pecked, let alone quoted by passers-by in the digital ether. That is why I am proposing that we embrace the change which has been brought about by kinetic opining, funneled communication, the proliferation of nuclear advertising, and the manifestation of self-riotousness. I am calling for the embrace of a quip or turn-of-phrase first brought to my attention by a lovely woman I had the pleasure of dining with on a date at The Bristol a handful of years ago. Andrea said to me.., and I am paraphrasing as the whiskey was soaking,

‘Why can‘t we simply apply the Benefit of the Awesome?’

Seriously, why can’t we? What is stopping us?

So here it is defined:

The Benefit of The Awesome — An avowal that a person or statement must be regarded as incredible, justified, or human, if the contrary has not been proven.
